Abstract

In linguistics, the thesis is put forward that Turkic, Mongolian and Tungusic
languages together belong to the Altaic language group. This is based on the assumption
that the languages mentioned above had a common proto-language in history, that is
Altaic. This assumption, in turn, is based on the fact that Turkic, Mongolian and
Tungusic languages have many similarities in terms of morphology and lexicology.
Kotwic (1962) found that the common vocabulary of the Turkic and Mongolian
languages is about 50 percent in morphology and 25 percent in lexicology (cf. Baskakov
1981, Sanžeev 1947).
