Abstract

Abstract: This scientific article aims to investigate the effectiveness of
contextual approaches to teaching vocabulary in the Uzbekistan education system. A
survey was conducted among 50 English language teachers in Tashkent to collect data
on their experiences with contextual approaches to vocabulary instruction. The results
indicated that contextual approaches were widely used by teachers and were perceived
as effective in promoting vocabulary acquisition and retention among students. This
study has important implications for English language education in Uzbekistan and
highlights the need for continued research in this area.
