Abstract

This research paper explores the phenomenon of euphemism in both English and Uzbek languages. Euphemism is a linguistic tool employed to express polite and acceptable phrases in place of harsh or offensive words, especially when discussing unpleasant or sensitive topics. The study delves into the historical roots of euphemism and its cultural significance, examining how euphemisms serve as a bridge between language and folklore. It discusses various reasons for using euphemisms in communication, such as politeness and adherence to cultural norms.
