MOTIVATION IN SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Abstract
Language acquisition is a complex process that comprises different principles.
The complexity of this process can be observed not only in the influence of linguistic
principles but the affective principles as well which has become one of the central
topics of various studies in recent years. Several researchers explored the role of
affective factors in the second language acquisition process (e. g., MacIntyre, Clement,
and Noels, 2007). These scholars described different affective variables and the ways
of their influence on second language acquisition. This work focuses on the impact of
motivation on learning a second language and variables affecting motivation in the
language acquisition process.
